Yes, if you are dreaming about owning a second home that is still fairly close to Atlanta, we have a lot of options! The National Association of REALTORS even calls vacation homes “The New Hot Housing Market.”
“Vacation home sales comprised 21 percent of all transactions in 2014 – the highest market share since NAR began conducting its survey.” Even so, prices are more affordable … you can find a good deal on the buy side.
Here are just a a few of the great areas you’ll have to choose from:
- Big Canoe has homes for sale for $100,000 to well over $1,000,000. Today there are more than 250 on the market so lots to choose from. Big Canoe has three golf course, lakes, streams, a fitness center and a myriad of social activities. And it’s only an hour north of Atlanta.
- Lake Arrowhead, about the same distance away, is in the mountains of Cherokee County and boasts Georgia’s 2nd largest man-made private lake. The community has a golf course, clubhouse, marine, nature trails, pool and tennis courts. Homes for sale range from the $200s to around $700,000, and you can purchase a home site and contract to build.
- Lake Lanier can be even closer! It is not a community per se but the focal point of many neighborhoods that have built up around (officially) “Lake Sidney Lanier” over the past 60 years. If you haven’t wandered around Lake Lanier lately, you won’t believe it! Today in our Multiple Listing Service, there are over 250 homes with frontage on Lake Lanier, from the 200s and 300s up to in the millions.
